Question 1: Taiwan has an excellent record on human rights and is always trying to improve even more. However, many Taiwanese argue that women’s rights have not progressed fast enough. Unfortunately, this is true of many countries in the world. According to the second reading (the state department report), women make only 85% as much as men do for the same job. Obviously this is not done as an open policy, but instead it comes about because women end up with a lower starting pay, get fewer promotions, smaller bonuses, and so on. On average when a man makes $1,000 NT, a woman makes only $850 NT for the same job. I would like for you to respond to this fact. Here are some possible response topics: How do you think this situation came about? Are their historical reasons this has happened? Are their cultural reasons? Other reasons? What can be done to fix this problem? (keep in mind that it is often difficult to prove that you are being underpaid).
Well, I think this situation has last for many years the old traditional Chinese are the mens world, which I don’t feel it’s fair. It’s the old cultural that made women so priceless, if we look back to the history, we can see that men can have as many wives as they want, but women don’t have the rights to do so, and you can see the women don’t have any chance to choose who they want to marry but men does. You can see the in from the first chinese king till now the president, you can find no women who can contral everything, all the kings are men, we don’t have any Queens who can sit at the kings seat and ask people to do things or even ask the king to do things for the queens, but you can see that kings can make the queens to do anything they wanted. How do you think it’s fair? Till now, some men still think that they can do anything and do better they women, but I think it’s not fair, who said that women are always weaker then men? Although women are not strong enough in the outside but in the inside are not as weak as men think they were! Even in work, men think that a women just can’t be like a men strong enough and clever enough to deal with things an solve problems and some people even think that only men can go drinking with the client and have the case done, but women can’t. You know that is so wrong. I hated when some guys say that, that is so stupid and so damned snobbish. This women right realy makes me feel unfair and angry about men. I promise myself that I would be a very strong and clever girl just to get ahead of men. My dad was a very hight educated person, he always think that my mom was just too stupid for him, and he want a more clever person, so he left my mom, I am really pissed at him for thins reason. My mom was a old tradional women before my dad left her, she listened to every words that my dad said and was a very wonderful women, she helped my dad to social with the ambassadors wife and made my dad get the promotion quicker, my dad was her everything, but my dad still left her because he thinks my mom was not the best of all women, although she is very good and nice and everything but she doesn’t have a doctor degree. Don’t you think that’s rediculous? My dad are the greatest dad ever but he is the worst men in the whole universe, my dad once told me that a women should be a kitti cat and a lion too, he said a kitti cat are not enough for a girl, but that’s the real world, a girl that wants to be successful in work you just have to work harder then every men in the world that’s the only way to get ahead. He said he hope me can be a man inside of me, I shouldn’t be like my mom too women too weak because that would be hard to survive in the world. God may made men and women differently but there are uses for both of them, they just need to learn how to respect each other, nothing is fair in this whorld, but if women hasn’t been equal as men then we women just have to work harder but not live in silence. To men, I just want to say, stop acting like you guys are the best, you guys sucks, try to respcet women and you know if you don’t do so, we women once get ahead of you see if we will show any mercy to you!
