I just came back from my bobfriends best friend's wedding. Wow, we’ve entered the fourth wedding this year. That’s amount of wedding to enter in a year, and in December there is still another one coming, can you believe it? Well, I can’t imagine, but it really come true, of cause my friends are much bigger than my age because my boyfriend is older than me. I heard from my grandmother that next year is not a good year to be marring, because it a bad year, I don’t know why, maybe it’s the Chinese tradition, I don’t know but I’m sure that’s the reason that everyone is getting married in this year. You know what, I never thought of getting married, but I have dream of taking the wedding photo with the nice white dress, because it’s so beautiful. I’ve been helping he wedding company to shoot the wedding photo of the wedding dress and stuff, it’s quite fun but it’s kind of tiring.

Like I said in the front, sacrificing and nature selection, what would be like if there is no cosmetics? It’s the same question as medical testing, and my answer are the same. But about what kinds of animals to use, I would say, depends on who are the weakest. I’m sure that most lab use mice and rabbit most, I think because it’s the weakest of all animals. You can’t catch a lion easily and I’m sure you can’t control it. In the lab, the use the weakest animal and the easiest controlling animals to be scarify.

1. It’s quite easy to get an emotional response out of people when we talk about how animals are treated. This is also true of animal testing for medical research. However, many would say that animal testing has led to many medical breakthroughs that have dramatically reduced human suffering around the world. After reading the two articles above, what do you think about medical testing? Is it justified and necessary?

I think it is necessary of doing medical testing, and it might be justified. You see if there is no medical testing, would you want to eat a medicine that hasn’t been test, and you don’t know if it would cure your pain or make it worse. Some people would say it’s very cruel to use animal for medical testing, but what else can they use for medical testing? Would it be better not to have any medical research or testing? Some people say that God made us, he give us life and he chose the time of death for everyone, he choose who born in rich who born in poor, everything is under his control, is it true? If is, then what would be the meaning of life? Doing nothing waiting for death? I don’t think agree with it, people work hard everyday for surviving. People work together on different project in order to help each other to live in better lives; someone has to sacrifice and it defiantly won’t be human beings. According to Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution “natural selection”, survival of fittest, you might think that I’m a cold blooded person, but that’s nature, that’s life. The theory of evolution, not only describe the animals but human too, we all belong to the nature. Some people might think that medical testing are only used in animals which is wrong, it also used in human beings. Some poor people sacrifice themselves as a volunteer of the medical testing in order to make money to survive. Some people think they deserved it, because they get money and they can say no to it. To the poor people, they might want to say no but because of the environments that force to make them say yes, isn’t it curled too? Some people only felt shame for the animals but they haven’t thought of some of their own kinds are suffering too. Animals, might don’t have the ability to tell human that they don’t want to be tested as an experimental article, but if they were born well like the rich people, they might be the happy animal who lives in forest, but what can you say, that’s destiny (life). Honesty, I do agree with the medical testing, with out sacrificing where do we (not only human but also animals) get a better life and better medical treatment? It might be curl, but that’s what you called life- natural selection.

Well, I think the environmentalists are heroes not only because I don’t like the Japanese but also hunting whales are against the international law because whales are protected animals, hunting them could extinct the species of whales. Besides, the Japanese they hunted the whale at Antarctica, it’s not there sea area of cause they don’t have the right to hunt there. The environmentalist has the right to scare the whale way, and they have the right to protect the whales, there is no reason for the hunter to be anger of them. Let’s say if someone wants to kill someone you love and you know it, would you use every kind of ways to protect the one you love? Of cause you would, unless you are a cold blooded person, then I won’t be sure for your answer, but to most of the people would use every kind of ideas to protect their lovers. It’s the same as the environmentalist, they just love the environment too much, they want to protect the rare animals of cause, and they won’t let the hunters to hunt the whales.

To me, I really don’t know how to defense the environment and preventing the extinction of species, but I know that violence can’t stop this situation and I am sure that it will get worse if the environmentalist and the hunter haven’t found a way to negotiate. I really don’t think that hunting protected animals are right, there must be some reasons for why it is protected, might because it is hard to breed, if it’s this reason, then we probably won’t see any whales any more. Can you imagine that going on a trip on ship over the ocean and you can’t see any killer whales or other whales or dolphins (I have heard that hunters are killing dolphins too) jumping out of the sea surface, that would be a tragedy for human being. But what can we do? Before the best way comes out, it would be the best way to keep it as what they were doing now, that’s the only way to keep the whales safer now.

I don’t know, it’s not too strict or too lenient. But it makes feel strange is that, what kind of animals are pets? It’s said that “The amendment clarifies the ban on killing "pets" for meat or fur by specifying dogs and cats as pets.” what if I have a chicken as a pet and when it grew up I want to make it as my meal? Have I obeyed the law? If I have what about the people who kill the chicken and sell it? It’s my pet, could it count as killing pets for meal? To me these laws are just trying to make the animal lover to feel better, yes, it’s seems to be a show to me. If you really love animals then why do you still eat them? It’s not only dogs and cats are animals, pigs, chicken, lamb, cows… they are animals too. I just think those people who said they are animal lovers are just too artificial. Fighting for animal rights? Bull shit! If you are a vegetarian, and you think eating animal are too cruel then I do believe that you really love animals. Some people say that, dogs is man’s best friend, I think if you have any animal with you and take good care of them from small to big, I’m sure every animal will be your best friend. I think to improve this law better improve the peoples mind first, instead of give a law that so complicated but to teach people to be responsible for their own pets, for example, if they want to have a pet then treat it as a part of their family members, don’t just leave it on the road or something. This law, I think it’s only been use for those sick people who kill animals for fun, or those who haven’t got any responsibility.

My computer has been dead for a week, that’s why I can’t get on line to do my homework, and the worst is that there are so many exams came up this week. Oh, God help me!

My mom’s birthday is coming on Friday, my brother and I are planning to take my mom out to dinner, but when we ask my mom what to eat for dinner, she said she want to go to (瑞華) restaurant, so we made a reservation for it. When I call the restaurant to make the reservation and I ask what was the price, it’s about NT 1000~3000 for a person. Oh my god, I called my brother and told him about it, we really don’t have the money to afford such an expensive meal, but it’s my mom’s birthday and she said she want to go there, what can we say? Say no? I don’t think so, she will be pist-off. Luckily, we found a sponsor, that will be our dad, he pay for the meal. Thank God I have a wonderful dad, who rescued us on our mom’s birthday! punishment of cheating

What do you think should be the punishment for students who cheat in this class? It’s possible that some students who have cheated in class may not have really thought about what they were doing and now regret it. Should they be allowed a second chance to “fix” their mistakes? If so, what can they do to fix their earlier mistakes?

I’m sure that cheating should be punished, because other people do work hard on their works and spent times thinking and write down the works, it is unfair for those who works really hard, but I’m sure cheaters do have some reason to cheat, it is also a kindness of giving them another chance to change , since people are not saint, we make mistakes, why not just give them another chance? There’s the problem, there are so many kinds of cheating, for example,

Doing a writing assignment for one class and then turning it in for two, three, or even more classes because you are too busy to do another writing assignment. And asking someone else to write a few paragraphs of your paper for you—but you still do most of it.

Might not all of the student think these are cheating, what is the standard of cheating? I think it depends on what kind of cheating and give the punishment. If it’s coping people’s work then might they have to give a bigger punishment, like write more homework or do something to make up with it, but if it’s t like the examples I really don’t think it’s necessary to make any punishment, probably just ask them not to do it next time.

I agree with all the punishments that the school gave to the student, because cheating or plagiarism other peoples work are not acceptable, no matter who you are or where you copied from unless you quote it and say where you copied this paragraph from then it won’t get you in to trouble. The last case:

A professor was concerned about a final paper submitted by a student because: 1) the paper did not answer the question that had been posed, 2) the paper covered portions of the book the students had not been asked to read, and 3) several sentences were far from the normal writing style of Stanford undergraduates. I totally agree. What’s the point of studying if you don’t write your paper of your own? Being a university student you should act like a child anymore, you should behave yourself. If you don’t want to study or write you own paper maybe you should just quit the school and go to work or maybe see if your parents still want to give you money than you don’t need to do anything. I just don’t think there is any reason can be accept for cheating and plagiarism for any works. Stanford University, What are the students thinking? You have the ability to go in Stanford but you don’t have the ability to behave yourself then why go in? I don’t know. I just felt that a great school can’t except a bad behave student epically cheating and plagiarism other people’s work. It just hard to believe that a good school student needs to cheat or plagiarism other peoples work, just like the professor in Columbia, she plagiarizing passages from the work of three former students and colleagues, I really don’t get it what is her motive of doing it.

If you don’t have the ability to do the works of your own maybe you just need to think about of quit or study harder. No need to cheat or plagiarizing other people’s work, it will break your own reputation and it’s not worth it.

Questions

In your opinion or experience, why do some students chose to cheat? What are some of the different reasons students give? Do you know people who cheated in high school or college? (you can respond generally. I am not looking for names).

Most of the student cheat on test or plagiarizing assignments, I think the reason to these are very simple and easy to know. Some student don't like to study, the reason that they have to go to school is because of their parent want them to or is because they want the degree so that they can get a better job in the future. By these reasons, they cheat. Some student just don't want to spend any time on the books or they think that hanging out with friend or play online game is better that sitting there and studing, to them studing and write an assignment is just a waste of time. I don't have any experience on cheating, because the education that my parent gave me is that a good grade does not show a person's personality, but cheating show's every bads of you. I never have been punished by a bad grade as long as I am honest with my parent. To most of the taiwanese's family, parent cares about the grade so much and so is every school and company when the use people, no wonder why students cheat. Take my little cusin for example, he is a very naughty boy, but never lies till he has been punished by my aunt every time for the bad grade, then he started to change his marks or lie to his mother that there was no tests......somthing like that. My aunt was freaked out by his behaver, my mom told her that instead of beting her son, but think through herself what have she done wrong, don't let a kid get use to make up a lie, because lie can be a habit.

Honesty may be the worst policy to get ahead in the world

When i read the china post, i wasn't very surprised by the result of the cheating students. In the paragragh it said "To them, honesty may be the worst policy to get ahead in the world." I do believe that to most of the people cheated on every things, and to most of the company boss likes the cheaters, they don't like honesty. Once you are honest to them , it means that you are displease to them then you'll be fire. That is how the education has thought the students. I don't know is anyone has been punish in high school or junior school or maybe elementry school, well i have. I studied in South Africa in my elementry school, once I accidently broke our teacher vase, i told our teacher that it was me that i broke it and i say sorry to her, the teacher didn't punish me, she said honsty is the best policy. But in taiwan is different, in high school i don't have a good relationship with our class teacher, and i was very bad in math, i always fail in quizes and always got "zero" for math but once i got 100 because i got a tutor teaching me math at home and finally i got 100, guess what i got punish by my class teacher saying that i was cheating just because i don't have a good relationship with her, i don't really care what that teacher thinks but i do really work very hard on my math as long as my perant believes in me. Luckly i have a great mom and dad otherwise i don't know what would i be now.

I think student cheating has a lot of reasons comes from teacher and their parents. No one is a cheater, if honesty can bring disaster than how can it be the best policy?

Nothing is impossible in the world. Well I think second life is really a coola game, it can let us have a second life although it's not real but it can fulfill our imagination. But i don't think is really good to have a job in second life or go to school in second life because we can't have the chance to comunicate with people or have any interactions with other people. It's a great game for relaxing but not good for reality. I have a computer game it's call the Sim City, it's kinda like the second life except it's not online game and it's not 3D, it's like a imitative game, You build your own city, it's a quite fun game. I think the second life might be the same, it might be a fun game!

peace or war

Peace or war? It has been a profound matter concerning humankind for so many centuries. You want peace or war? Yes, almost every one of us would say peace. But, if you look back through human history, you will see that wars have occupied a large part of our history books. Why is that? Because the totalitarians usually believe that war is the easiest way to solve the problem while peace needs great courage, patience and love to fulfill. For those who seek power and desire, peace is the most expensive and profitless thing. We can see from our history that every time when there is a dictator, there is war.

If we chose war as a way to solve disagreements or to grab power, do you know what the cost is? There were 10 million live dumped into the graves and seas in the First World War, because of the ambitions of a few totalitarian regims. And there were more than 50millon innocent lives killed in Second World War. From these two wars, we can see the horror and cruelty of war. Since the war is bound to cause so much harm, why do we, the innocent human beings have to get involed in it?

Love goes around the world

It is said that things in life work in cycles. We could say that what comes around goes around. Most people use this in a very negative way. We say that if you treat each other with disrespect then disrespect will be shown to you. Lie and people will lie to you and forth and so on. So I believe the same could be said for treating others with LOVE. It does seem to be so obvious that this would happen with out a second thought. But nothing could be further from the truth.

I will use the current situation in Iraq and Afghanistan. Had not only American but every other nation be more in tune with the suffering and needs the people had then the situation would never had reached the point of war. Had we sent them machines and understanding not suspicion and contempt LOVE not HATE.

Then I believe their children and their children’s children would not strap bombs on their backs but would carry great fullness in their hearts. They would give to their own society what was given to them and when the reached a point where they could give they would do so with all sincerity because that is what was shown on them.

In other words, of love was weapon of choice that we each choose to defend ourselves with. The world would have no other alternative but to respond in the same way. So, is love what makes the world go around? Well, I’m not sure of other… but it is sure what I like to turn my axis on!

Some people think the study of humanities (classes like literature, history, philosophy) are a waste of time to study because they have no direct market- place (business) value. Other people (and schools) think a humanities education is one of the most valuable educations you can get because it teaches critical thinking, analysis, and gives people a deeper understanding of the world. What do you think?

I agree with the other people that a humanities education is one of the most valuable educations, because it teaches critical thinking,analysis, and give people deeper understanding of the world. I think humanities education is another way of understanding people or the world. Maybe you would ask how can we understand people form studing humanities? From classes like literature, you can know more about people because most of stories in literatures are about people. How people act and feels or other ways of thinking. History, where we can learn how the world and people were in the past. studing humanities can help people understand people.

i was sick

I had a very bad week last week, first I got sick by enterogastritis, and then got a tooth ache. I didn’t go to school for three days, my stomach hurts, I just can’t leave the toilet. I can’t stop vomiting and can’t stop having a bowel movement; I hardly can eat anything even drinking water. I was too weak to do anything but stay in bed, but I wished there was a bed next to the stool then I don’t need to get up and walk to the toilet. I didn’t go to see the doctor the first day, I thought that I could just take a rest for a day and I would get better the next day, but guess what, I got worse the next day, so I went to the hospital, and the doctor say that I should take an intravenous drip, I just hated having an injection, I was just too weak! I stayed at the hospital for 2 days, and I got no idea how many bottles of the intravenous drip I have taken, as long as I don’t need to keep on going to the toilet. After I got better, I went on the website to know more about the enterogastritis.

I went fishing Sunday night, but I didn't catch any fish at all. It seems that I am not lucky at all these days, go fishing I got no fish, playing mujun I lose money, going to the market i got no parking place. What is wrong with me? It's just seem so unlucky, maybe is that god was trying to tell me that i should study. Ha! Ha! Well, it does feel bad for summer holiday to end because this is my last summer holiday in university. Ya, days has been going so fast, suddenly i woke up and i become a senior. Should i feel happy? I think I have waste a lot of time doing nothing, otherwise how come I can't think of what i have done over the pass few year.

I drove to kenting with some friends last week, we were supose to go last sunday but the Hagupit typhoon so we change to wednesday. It was a sunny day, the skys are blue, the sun was big and the waves was just so fine for sufing; what can i say, it's just a perfect day for every water sports. We got to Kenting was about lunch time, we went to eat Wanluan Pig Knuckle it's the a famous food that you have to try when you got there. After lunch we went to our hotel and cheked in. We stayed at Shutu hotel, it's the best hotel in Kenting i've ever stayed. It has private beach, swimmimg pool and archery feld; there are may activeties and DIY are open by the hotel for roomer to attend. For example, jelly candles, soap and shell neckless. Anyways, I spent 4days at Kenting, of couse I did went surfing. What can I say, Kenting is just the best place to go for holidays and surfing.
